Friends of BNC will meet on Sunday, January 24, at 1:00 p.m. for a presentation by Dr. Steven Sebesta, President of the Cleveland Chapter of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences (SVU). Dr. Sebesta will speak on "The Story of the Cleveland Czechoslovak Legionnaires" at Klas Restaurant, 5734 W. Cermak Road in Cicero, IL. Make reservations for the Czech luncheon ($25) no later than January 20 by calling 630-887-0411. You may pay at the door.

The presentation traces the recruitment, wartime experiences, and postwar activities of approximately 440 Cleveland Czech and Slovak Legionnaires who served in the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd Regiments in France during WWI.

A booklet about the Legionnaires buried at BNC will be available. Dr. Sebesta will bring copies of his new book, The Wartime Experiences of a Cleveland Czechoslovak Legionnaire based on the World War I Diary of Ladislav Krizek, and will be available to sign copies.
